What are the performance and functional requirements of Paper cup raw material?

Posted by Admin

The raw materials of paper cups are mainly paper and coating materials. Its performance and functional requirements are as follows:

Performance requirements of paper:
Strength: The paper of the paper cup needs to have high strength and toughness to ensure that it will not easily break or leak when holding water or other drinks. Generally, specially treated kraft paper or coated paper is used.
Water resistance: When the paper cup holds hot or cold drinks, the paper must have strong water resistance to prevent water penetration. The paper is usually coated, such as a thin layer of polyethylene (PE) coating to enhance waterproofness.

Thickness and weight: The paper of the paper cup needs to have an appropriate thickness to ensure sufficient strength and stability. Too thin paper may not be able to withstand the pressure of the liquid, and too thick paper may increase cost and weight.
Functional requirements of coating materials:
Waterproofness: The inner wall of the paper cup is usually coated with a layer of polyethylene (PE) or other waterproof coating to prevent liquid from penetrating the paper and increase the durability of the cup.
Heat sealing performance: The coating also needs to have good heat sealing performance to ensure that the paper cup can be firmly bonded during the production process and is not easy to fall off.
Environmental protection: With the improvement of environmental protection requirements, more and more paper cup manufacturers use biodegradable coatings (such as PLA coatings) instead of traditional PE coatings to reduce environmental pollution.
Appearance and printing requirements:
Surface flatness: Paper needs to have good flatness for high-quality printing. Brand or advertising information is often printed on the outside of paper cups, so the paper surface needs to have sufficient smoothness and suitable performance for printing.
Color and color reproduction: The raw materials of paper cups should be able to ensure bright printing colors and accurate reproduction.
Safety requirements:
Non-toxicity: The raw materials of paper cups, especially coating materials, must meet food safety standards and contain no harmful substances to ensure that they will not cause harm to human health when used.
Heat resistance: For hot drink paper cups, paper and coating materials need to have high temperature resistance to avoid deformation of paper cups or melting of materials when holding hot drinks.

These performance and functional requirements ensure that paper cups not only meet daily use needs, but also meet health, safety and environmental standards.
